In the UK we don’t get a great deal of hot sun in the summer time, it’s not unusual to see a range of seasons in one day. Maybe I should be more grateful as we are each year blessed with a few solid weeks of sunshine….. if we’re lucky. But this was not the weather pattern when I was young and growing up, summer was sunny, winter was cold, autumn was autumn, spring was spring, there was no confusion! As many of us watch the yearly decline of hot summers in the UK it’s no wonder we can sometimes find ourselves feeling depressed.
Adversity is always an opportunity for growth and development, “opportunity” here is the key word as this causes us to dig deep into ourselves to find our own light, our own sunshine and reasons to be grateful for all that we are and all that we have.
If there’s anything I have learnt from the worsening summer times in the UK with the lack of sun is that we have to learn to enjoy the moment each waking moment, to be in it, to live in it and know that those moments that maybe aren’t so good are just moments that will pass away to bring you forth into something new.
I’m not talking about a new holiday destination!! But a new way of looking at things and appreciating the things we can change and the things that we have to leave to God to change.
In order to be happy and fulfilled you have to start by being appreciative of every little thing, the fact that you got up this morning, the fact that you can see, hear, touch, smell, you get the picture?
Write a list of everything you have to be grateful for and read it aloud whilst looking at yourself in the mirror.
“I am grateful because ………..”
Share this blog with friends, family and associates that you feel would benefit from these few words. Until next time. Take great care of yourself in the spirit of gratitude!
